Can we remake the boring Monument of Honor map statues?
Some of the Honor monuments are absolutely magnificent. The statues of the gods are nifty, the Conqueror and Hero statues of legendary foes are excellent, the allegiance titles are elegant, the Luxon, Kurzick, and Ascalon banners are beautiful, and the bunch of beer kegs is exactly that any good hall needs.
But the maps kind of suck.
Protector, Guardian, Vanquisher, Gladiator, Commander, Codex, and Hero feature.....a map. A plain, basic, boring map. Legendary Protector, Guardian, and Vanquisher feature.......three maps. Woo-freakin-hoo. It makes perfect sense for cartographer, sure, but there's no reason why the same thing should be repeated time and again for all the PvE titles, nor the difficult PvP ranks be given no love whatsoever.
The sad part is, these are biggest titles, the ones people really want to record and remember. The Hero title track means far more than beating Prophecies, but the statue of the lich blows the zaishen map right out of the water. Getting Legendary Vanquisher takes a whole lot more effort than beating the Fissure of Woe once on normal mode, but the latter's fiery statue of Balthazar looks a thousandfold better than the former's set of brown maps.
So can we get some statues for these things that don't look like used tissue paper?
Give the PvE titles statues of classic friends and foes that actually commemorate what we've done, not just show us a big map. Glint and Kuunavang for guardians of Tyria and Cantha. A roaring junundu for protectors of Elona. A raging djinn, a cunning doppelganger, a sinister Seer, a stoic temple guardian. Upgrade the regional statues, then create something magnificent for the Legendary sets that they actually deserve.
For PvP, upgrade their Honor by actually giving rank meaning: different statues for progressively higher ranks of each title. The Hero title should not just be a scrap of parchment. Make it a golden trophy of the /emote animal they have earned, ranging from an elegant stag to an almighty dragon. Make the commander title feature four statues of mighty warriors in a generic hero pose, which grows more ornate and guilded with higher ranks, with a similar visage of glory for Gladiator. And make the Champion statue shine like the flames of the god of war, because those who have earned it deserve it.
The best titles in the game should look the best. Right now, that's not the case, and it's a damn shame. The elite titles of both PvE and PvP deserve a good, solid helping of awesomeness.

I never actually really got why there were maps for anything other than cartography when all the other statues actually depict what you've done.

They will look much nicer in GW2, i would rather them work on making the world map look nicer, GW1 world map looks better than world map GW2..but its still in beta so..who knows.

Time shouldn't be wasted on complete trivialities.

Taking into account that the skill updates aren't frequent and, when they finally arrive, are not that great, i'd appreciate a change like this. I've always been both amazed why and annoyed by those maps in HoM.
Devs' time shouldn't be wasted on such trivialities, but only if it was used up for frequent updates. In the face of what we get now, i'm totally /signed - if we get the derv update in december, the next one (para? another small gvg one?) will probably come in may-july; i'd be fine to get it a few months later but see those awful HoM maps changed.

But not a priority. There are alot of other things I would rather see first.

Certainly not a priority or terribly important, but it'd be a nice little touch.

Not every suggestion is a push for immediate change.
There are a lot things the live team should concentrate upon right now, but there are also a few tweaks that don't have any particular priority, yet still deserve attention in good time. I don't think this takes precedence over GW:B or skill updates or other changes, but I'd still really, really like to see it done before Guild Wars 2. That's a long ways off, but it is still worth thinking about.

It'd be a nice touch but not something I'd want to see take up too much time.

I just don't show them. The monuments with creatures like the Lich or Mallyx look better.

... a complete waste of time. If you dont like them, then dont bother displaying them. Besides, its not like anyone besides you can see them. I don't really care how little of a time it would take to do something like this, id rather that little bit of time go toward skill updates.

Is it a wise investment of resources to make fancy statues commemorating dead PvP formats?

Do you stand around in your hall of monuments for an hour or two instead of playing, or do you just play? This is completely and utterly trivial, pointless, and a waste of time, especially considering the fact that Anet takes forever doing the updates they already said they'd do.

I always wondered why I would get a map for some of them when they already HAD a map already...just a tiny little thing on the base is different. Just goes to show they already had other things 'more important' to do than actually working on gw1.

There are only 5 statues on display so pick the best looking imo and I'd rather have them put effort in beyond stuff and events instead of the HoM.
